Sense of Purpose Responsibility Criteria
Sense of Purpose Responsibility Criteria:
-
Your Reasons to Get Up in the Morning – Provide activities that your discipline mind will act upon on a daily basis
-
Your Sense of Well-being – Engage in all of the activities required to maintain a stable Sense of Well-being. You are of no positive value to your friends, family to your profession if you do not possess a stable Sense of Well-being. Fix it as required!
-
Your Family – Define and engage in a health balance between your Professional Activities and your Family Activities. The key is the “Balance”. The lack of balance will produce poor results in both arenas. The Modern Developer’s disciplined mind will continuously evaluate the balance and make corrections dynamically to maintain a health Sense of Purpose.
-
Your Friends – Engage in social activities that promote growth in your life with friends. Establish relationships with people outside of your profession and engage your family members in these relationships, as appropriate.
-
Your Colleagues – Create networks within your Technology disciplines that foster a better understanding of your Art and Science as a Modern Developer.
-
Your Professional Growth – Create a disciplined plan to ensure you do not become a Technical Dinosaur. Create a Technology library of reference books and become a PAYING member of a training Website such as Pluralsight.
-
Your Ongoing Training – Use Paid Training Websites as your vaccination against becoming a Technical Dinosaur. Create a plan that works for you to enhance your Art and Science on a regular basis. Use the fact that you are paying for these sites each month to motivate you to educate yourself on new and existing technologies and concepts. Free sites do not foster commitments!
-
Your Daily Professional Ethics – Engage in only activities that reflect the highest level of personal responsibility and professional conduct. When you make a mistake, admit it. We gain wisdom from failure. Embrace the personal growth that daily commitments to Professional and Personal ethics provide.
-
Your Modern Developer Activities – Engage in a daily commitment to “Lead By Example”. Practice the Design Principles, Patterns and Code Standards in everything you do. Enlighten your colleagues through “Walking Your Talk” not by dictating practices. Encourage your colleagues to become a Modern Developer by your Actions not just your Words.
Notice the Last item was your commitment to being a Modern Developer! Success as a Modern Developer can only be truly realized by a successful implementation of the disciplines above; in the order they have been presented.
