The Modern Developer’s Wisdom Pearls
The Modern Developer’s Wisdom Pearls
What are Wisdom Pearls?
Wisdom Pearls are short “Phrases of Thought” that speak to common beliefs.
They communicate the core intent of more complicated ideas.
“Bad News Doesn’t Get Better with Age …
… It is NOT a Fine Wine”
This Wisdom Pearl speaks to the wisdom of exposing “Issues” sooner rather than later.
By addressing an issue as soon as it is discovered allows for solutions to be put in place before the “Issue” becomes a “Problem” or a “Disaster“.
Wisdom Pearls creates memorable thoughts that can be repeated to pass the “Wisdom” of the intent of the Phrase of Thought.
Knowledge IS NOT Wisdom …
… Wisdom is Achieved through the Successful Use of Knowledge
In Technology DATA is collected and stored in repositories.
Different types of Data Repositories such as Data Warehouses and Data Marts hold raw Transactional DATA.
This DATA represents INFORMATION and has no value unto itself as KNOWLEDGE or WISDOM.
DATA becomes KNOWLEDGE when DATA is analyzed within related context of other DATA.
This “Analytical Process” produces KNOWLEDGE and is the next step towards WISDOM.
Analytical KNOWLEDGE Data becomes WISDOM when the results of the analytical process is applied to a Business Case and produces a successful business outcome.
A Successful Business Outcome MUST be Repeatable for the Result to be Considered a Wisdom
The Wisdom must be applicable to more than one business case in order for the knowledge to be a wisdom.
Successful implementation of knowledge creates better data through wisdom.
Wisdom is a Lifelong Pursuit in Our Personal Lives and Our Professional Ones as Well …
… Seek Out Wisdom Where Ever You Can Find It.
The Modern Developer will publish Wisdom Pearls through the Twitter handle @ModernDeveloper.
